Dice an Onion

Dicing an onion is a building block to hundreds, nay, thousands of recipes. Learn how to dice quickly and you'll not only save time, but your onion will cook evenly.

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cut the onion in half through the root and peel.
  2. Lay one half of the onion with flat side down and slice horizontally through the center of the onion. Avoid cutting through the peel.
  3. Now make a handful of vertical slices back towards the peel - again making sure not to slice through the peel.
  4. Finally slice across the vertical cuts to complete the dice.
  5. Discard the peel and use that onion!
